Constructive tools

 Concepts of constructive tool

A constructive tool is an application that enables users to manipulate information, visualize their understanding and build new knowledge. The main aspect of constructive tool is that they allow users to produce tangible products.

Some examples of constructive tool includes concept mapping tools, Camtasia studio, Google classroom and google workspace.

We use constructive tool to enhance learners to build new knowledge, it allows students to manipulate own idea and information, allows students to be active learner rather than passive learner and finally it enhances and foster critical thinking. Some merits of using constructive tool is that students' creativity and thinking skills can be enhanced, students can showcase their resources such as ideas and knowledges, share knowledges and ideas to the communities, the resources that we created can be used as teaching learning materials and finally it will enhance interaction and collaboration to build new knowledge to prior knowledge.

Reflection or writeup for constructive tools

Constructive tool have the potential to change the education by shifting from the focus of passive learning to more of information collecting, creating and active construction of the knowledge. By enabling user or learners to manipulate data, visualize the concept and create palpable product hence fostering critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. However I believe the effectiveness of the constructive tool depends on how they are used, implemented and integrated into teaching and learning context. while using constructive tool, teacher must ensure that tool are not used merely for sake of using but it is used to support specific learning objectives and promote better comprehension of the topic. Misuse of constructive tool such as using them in a instructive manner rather than a constructive way, can undermine their potential benefits.

when using constructive tool teacher should provide guidance while  navigating the tools, help the leaners understand their features and show how to apply it effectively to construct knowledge. Therefore, teacher should  provide clear instruction, model effective use of the tools and offer support to the learners so that they can used the tools to its fullest potential.

Coming to the assessment, traditional assessment method will be not adequate to capture the skills and knowledge that they acquire through the use of constructive tool , therefore teacher should design or adapt new assessment methods to assess their learning such as performance based assessment, e-portfolio or project based evaluation to accurately measure the impact of constructive tools on the students.
